Litherland Remyca vs Congleton Town: Preview
Congleton Town face a tough test when they travel to Litherland on Saturday afternoon for a second Premier Division clash in three days.
The Merseyside outfit are unbeaten in six games and will be looking to build momentum on their 5-0 thrashing of Ashton Athletic last time out.
As for The Bears, their form is just as impressive, having extended their unbeaten run to eight games following their 1-0 victory over Barnoldswick Town on Thursday.
Litherland currently sit in 13th place and haven’t suffered defeat in over a month.
The two sides locked horns at the Cleric Stadium in November which saw The Bears come out on top.
Late goals from Richard Duffy and Oliver Griffiths were enough to ensure Nathan Corness’ first half strike wasn’t enough to send Litherland back home with any points.
Speaking after the Barnoldswick game, Richard Duffy confirmed that both Lewis Short and Shakeel Jones-Griffiths remain sidelined for Saturday’s game.
“We hope so [caught Short’s injury early], he did feel it, so we will have to assess him over the next few days, obviously he won’t be available Saturday and we’ll go from there.
“We’ve got a few bodies down on the floor at the moment, we have to try and get them back otherwise we are low on numbers.
“We expect him [Jones-Griffiths] to be back [soon], it’s a matter of letting him rest and coast him through the next week and get him ready for next Saturday. We aim to get him training Thursday to get some work under his belt.”
Be sure to get yourselves up to Litherland Sports Park to support the lads as they look to extend this impressive run of form ahead of next Saturday’s huge FA Vase semi-final clash with Newport Pagnell Town.
Come on you Bears!
