Congleton Town vs Longridge Town preview:
Congleton Town host Longridge Town in their final home game of a historical season for The Bears.
Their final league game, but certainly not the end of their season. Richard Duffy’s side have two cup-finals to look forward to against Altrincham and Bacup Borough.
The Bears face a Longridge side who sit in 14th place with just one win in over a month.
However, the Lancashire side have the bragging rights over Congleton after defeating Duffy’s men 2-1 on the opening game of the season.
A win today would be a fitting way to close the curtain at the Cleric Stadium until next season, while giving The Bears that momentum going into the two finals.
Last time out, The Bears suffered a disappointing 8-2 defeat to AFC Liverpool, 48 hours on from securing their Cheshire Senior Cup final status with a 2-0 win over League Two side Crewe Alexandra.
Richard Duffy speaking after the Crewe game: “If you told me at the beginning of the season we would be in three semi-finals and get to two finals, I probably wouldn’t have believed you.
“The boys have been magnificent, everything we have asked of them they have tried, they’ve worked towards the way we really want to play.
“63 games and we are still going. You see in the 90th minute there, Pete Williams is still pressing their centre-back. The energy in them is something else, you have got to take your hat off to them because there is not many teams at our level that could deal with that [Crewe].”
Be sure to get yourselves down to the Cleric Stadium today to not only support the lads for today’s game but to show your appreciation for the season they have had, in all competitions.
Kick off: 3pm
Come on you Bears!
